Getting a Water Main Under a Driveway in Sydney
What plumbers and property owners should consider when a water service must cross a finished driveway.
A water-service crossing beneath a driveway needs a route that protects the pipe and avoids unnecessary surface damage. Trenchless underboring can create a casing or path between pits, allowing the plumbing contractor to install the specified line without cutting the full driveway.
The plumbing scope should identify pipe material, outside diameter, connection points, required fall if relevant and the final pressure or inspection process. The excavation plan then covers the pits, cover, access and reinstatement around the connection points.
Existing water, gas, electrical and communications services must be located before the bore. The lowest-cost crossing is not useful if it puts the new line or an existing service at risk.
