Mini-Excavator Access Checks Before a Sydney Dig
A pre-start checklist for choosing plant and protecting property on residential and commercial excavation sites.
Mini-excavator access is determined by the narrowest point, not the average width of the site. Measure gates, fences, paths and corners, then check overhead branches, awnings, services and the surface that the machine will travel over.
The machine's operating envelope matters too. It needs room to slew, load spoil, reach the trench and park safely. If access is limited, a smaller machine may work but take longer, so the estimate should reflect the real setup.
Photos from the street, property boundary and proposed excavation point make a useful access pack. Include a tape measure in one photo when a dimension is difficult to explain.
