Driveway Reinstatement After Sydney Excavation
How to plan the surface finish, backfill and handover after a driveway or slab is opened.
Reinstatement starts before excavation. Photograph the existing driveway, note the material and finish, identify joints and edges, and decide whether the project can use a trenchless crossing instead. A good scope states who supplies materials, who compacts the backfill and what finish is expected.
For an open trench, the backfill and compaction method should suit the surface and the final trade's requirements. Concrete, asphalt, pavers and landscaped surfaces each need a different repair approach. If the crossing is underbored, the pits still need safe backfill and a tidy surface finish.
Document the finished work and any temporary condition. This keeps the owner, builder and service contractor aligned about what is complete and what remains.
